Thrifty and Nifty Storage (Frugal Friday)

I recently read a post about using your old ketchup bottle as a pancake dispenser and thought it was genius! So I thought I would share with you....here is the link.

By using the dispenser you can then make fun pancakes! In the link it shows them making flower pancakes, but the morning I used it we made mickey mouse and bunny rabbit pancakes (with chocolate chip morsels as eyes). It was so much fun and the kids really got a kick out of it.

Another item I reuse for something else is my ice cube trays. There are many different uses for ice cub trays. Homemade popsicles, colored iced, just to name a few. My favorite thing to use them for though is with homemade baby food. Forget the "baby bullet" that we have all seen the crazy infomercial about (which I am positive that little thing would not last past ten uses), or the expensive baby food storage containers they sell. The best thing I have found to use is your own ice cube trays.

After you are done making your baby food, slowly poor into each cube (this will give you about 1oz of baby food each). Then place the tray into the freezer, covered with wax paper and aluminum foil. Leave it in there just until it is completely solid, then pop each baby food cube out, just like you would ice. I then put the cubes into a freezer bag labeled with type of baby food and the date made. See..so easy and it didn't cost you a thing!

Anyway, that is just a few items I reuse for storage, I am sure there are many more. Is there something in your household that you reuse for storage? Tell us about it!

What a great idea! My kids always ask for Mickey Mouse pancakes and this looks like an easy way to do it. Thanks for the link! :-)
