Father's Day

Today was a great, yet busy day! I love Father's Day, it is so much fun to find new ways to show my husband how much we love him and how great of a father we think he is. And to provide my father, who I have always been so close to, the same thing. This year I tried to get the kids involved as much as possible, so we did a lot of little crafty things. First we made him a shirt with the kids handprints saying "This Dad deserves a pat on the back". So much fun that was, I think they enjoyed that the most. Here it is when we gave it to him this morning:

We also made him a bookmark with a pic of all three kids saying "Dad, we'll hold your place", then they got to decorate it with stickers, markers, etc, and then I laminated it with my new laminator machine :D Sorry dont have a pic of that yet.

Next we made him a throne to sit at this morning with miscellanous items to make him feel good. I used a lawn chair and added some string to hold a back scrubber (couldn't find a back scratcher like I really wanted), and handheld massager. Then we added a wire hat holding ring with a brand new hat for Monty (he has been wanting this hat for awhile). We also used a red towel as a red carpet for him to walk on this morning when he came to his chair :D Oh and don't wanna forget about the newspaper we layed out for him to read with his breakfast.
Finally we made him a banner out of scrapbook paper in the letters " I <3>For breakfast this morning I made him what I will call "Mexican Breakfast Casserole", I can't remember what the real name of the recipe is. Here is a pic...it was really great and was a great recipe to have Yakko help me out with since most of it cooked in the oven!

To make things even better today we went to my mom and dad's to have lunch with my wonderful extended family! I told Monty that in order to do one more thing for him for father's day, I wanted to make him a cheesecake to take to mom and dad's. Cheesecake is his favorite dessert! So I asked him what kind of cheesecake was his ultimate favorite. He said that out of all the ones I have made him that the pumpkin cheesecake is his fav, but his all time fav is Turtle cheesecake. Well...I have never tried to make turtle cheesecake, but I said what the heck I am going to make him his favorite of all, it couldnt be that hard. So last night at 8:30pm I head to the grocery store to get the ingredients for the cheesecake and then come home and make it! Needless to say I did not finish til 11:00, plus there was more to add in the morning after it set all night. But here is how it turned out....
And oh was it delicious, and EVERYONE seemed to love it! So the late night and frustration I had with 2 1/2 lbs of cream cheese last night seems well worth it now :D
So this was our Father's Day and I hope your father's day was just as well! Fathers deserve so much, because their impression on their children's lives is so important. As it states in the Bible, the father of the household should be the next best thing to our heavenly Father! So HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all you wonderful daddy's out there that show your children this example of God each and every day :D

No Juli I am not at all creative, I got the idea from the babycenter.com website, and we just added our own little touches. I am a copy cat!!! :) Thanks for the compliment though.
